| This
area of our Web site is designed specifically for children.
In
this area you will find games, poems, stories and educational
activities suitable for younger children or those with special
educational needs. We have made extensive use of symbols to support
the textual content of the various pages and as an aid to navigation.
Please be patient and allow the pages to load fully. |
 |
| Switch
Access
Access
to this area is currently only available to touch-screen or pointing
device users.
It is our intention to introduce switch accessibility as soon
as we can. |
 |
| Navigation
We have attempted to make this area as simple
to navigate as possible. Children can move around the area by
clicking or touching the symbols. We have restricted the number
of navigational choices to a maximum of five, more usually two.
You can return to the main site at any time by clicking the school
logo on the sidebar. This is normally hidden from view at screen
resolutions of 1024x768 or lower. |
 |
| Javascript
Some
activities in this area require a Javascript plugin to be installed
onto your machine. For many users this is either installed as
part of your original operating system (Win XP) or as an automatic
process, triggered by visiting any of the Java pages. During beta
testing, we noticed that a very small minority of machines (1
reported to date) would crash when using version 1.4 of the Java
plugin with Internet Explorer 6. If this happens to you, a simple
solution is to re-install the previous (more stable) version 1.3.1.
You can do this by clicking the Java logo. |

|
| Macromedia
Flash
A small number of activities in this area are written
with Macromedia Flash and require a plugin to be installed into
your browser. As with Java, this is often installed as part of
your original operating system. You can check that you have the
latest version of the Flash plugin by checking the Flash logo
on the right of the screen. If you can see the logo, the Flash
plugin is already installed on your computer and no further action
is required. If you cannot see the flash logo, we recommend that
you download and install the latest version by clicking HERE.
This download typically takes one minute on a 56k modem. |

Interactive
Whiteboard Technology
Almost
all of the activities in this area will work with an Interactive
White Board. In school we use boards manufactured by Smart Technology
as they can be operated by children using their fingers in place
of the stylus. |
