| So
far we have looked at how ICT can transform learning for students
with complex difficulties, how then can ICT transform the
way that we teach? ICT provides us with a range of new teaching
resources and challenges us to use them creatively to deliver
the curriculum in new and exciting ways.

Interactive whiteboards, for example, can be used to engage
a whole class in any ICT project. Multi-modal, they add a
whole new element to any lesson, enabling teachers to deliver
lessons to suit all learning styles. The Web too, provides
a wealth of creative material we can use with our pupils.
Clip-art, sound effects, photographs and music can all be
downloaded and used to enhance work.
Multimedia
software can be purchased to support every area of the curriculum
and many include animation and live action video footage.
Specialist SEN software packages are available which are designed
to meet the learning needs of children using assistive access
devices, providing a range of progressive activities to help
them acquire access skills. Grid-based symbol processors such
as Clicker and WWS2000 can all be used to create materials
to support any child in any lesson.
These
are just some of the ICT tools we can use to enrich our teaching
and there are many more. Digital video, graphics tablets,
concept keyboards, midi keyboards can all be used to make
a good lesson really great. |
