As many of our parents and carers know, Makaton is one of the forms of communication we use in school. Previously we have tried to run workshops in school to introduce parents/carers to this program.

Although we have been unable to do this due to restrictions, we have been seeking support from other avenues to share with you. Below is a link to a course that gives a practical introduction to Makaton for people who need to use Makaton in everyday situations.

Sessions include hints and tips for effective signing and symbol use and how to start using Makaton in daily situations at home or work.

Makaton is fun and enjoyable, but it is a skill for life which can help break down barriers and build confidence in communicating with users of Makaton to help bridge gaps between one language and another.
