Creative
To inspire pupils to discover and learn about themselves and the world around us, whilst developing skills in the creative arts.
We strive for excellence. We are authentic. We aim to develop confident young people who are not afraid to imagine, explore and express themselves.
Our creative curriculum is structured for each individual. It gives pupils the opportunity to learn about and experience all aspects of the arts. It develops their talents to maximise their full potential.
The creative curriculum runs right through the school, from EYFS to Post 16, with high expectations and has been built with a structure to ‘layer the learning’ from start to finish. The curriculum embeds the whole school holistic approach to the appreciation of human creativity and achievement.
When our young people leave Priory Woods School they will have experienced all creative disciplines, developing in an area of focus which they will have chosen to study. Each learner will have a bespoke creative curriculum, tailor-made for their needs, interests and talents.
Accreditations include but are not explicit to: AQA units, BATD dance, Arts Award, ASDAN and Trinity college Music grades. Where appropriate, Arts Award will be purposeful and delivered at pivotal points throughout the pupil’s arts journey. Staff track progress based on the Arts Mark criteria, Sound of intent, and MAPP assessment, which is shown using Evidence for Learning.
Please find the creative curriculum for each curriculum pathway in the PDF files below.
We have recently been awarded, and maintained, a Platinum Award from Artsmark. This is a huge achievement for Priory Woods School and one we are immensely proud of!
